Enable Disable Hidden Administrator Account on Windows 7

Enable Disable Hidden Administrator Account on Windows 7

Enable / Disable Hidden Administrator Account on Windows 7

Earlier versions of Windows used to make the inbuilt administrator account active by default. With the advent of Windows Vista and then Windows 7, the administrator account stopped showing up. Many just wondered what happened to it?
Well it is very much there. Although, you’ll need to activate it to show up. Here is short command prompt trick to do that:
Tips: Sometimes you may forgot Win7 administrator password, then you can read “How To Get Windows 7Administrator Password”

Enable Built-in Administrator Account in Windows 7

1. Search for the command prompt from the start menu (by typing “cmd” in the search box), right click on it (as it shows up) and choose “Run as administrator”.
2. In the command prompt window type the following,
net user administrator /active:yes

3. Once the command is successfully carried out, you will get a message that says, ” The command completed successfully”.
4. Log out and you will be able to see the built-in Administrator account.
NOTE: The administrator account is not password protected by default. Since it has all the administrative privileges, it is recommended to provide a password to it if you are going to use it.

Disable Built-in Administrator Account in Windows 7

The steps are very much the same as the previous section. Only in this case use the command.
net user administrator /active:no
Once you get the message “The command completed successfully”, log off and you will find that the built-in administrator account has vanished.
The above process is demonstrated using Windows 7 Ultimate Edition. However it works with Windows Vista too.

Exchange 201x How to enable Mailbox logging

Exchange 201x How to enable Mailbox logging

On Exchange is very important to view if there are any strange accesses on other users mailboxes.

Here they are some command lines that works fine on Exchange 2016:

Set-Mailbox -AuditEnabled $true

Get-Mailbox |fl name,AuditEnabled

To view log retention:

Get-Mailbox | fl name,AuditEnabled,AudiLogAgeLimit

If you want to change log retention (default 90 days)

Set-Mailbox -Identity ” -AuditLogAgeLimit numberofdaysto keep

Get-Mailbox -ResultSize Unlimited -Filter {RecipientTypeDetails -eq “UserMailbox”} | Set-Mailbox -AuditLogAgeLimit 180

If you want to enable logging on all mailboxes:

Get-Mailbox -ResultSize Unlimited -Filter {RecipientTypeDetails -eq "UserMailbox"} | Set-Mailbox -AuditEnabled $true

Disable Mailbox logging

Set-Mailbox -AuditEnabled $false

Consider that Mailbox Owner activities are not logged, to enable it you must consider that we will have plenty of auditings:

Set-Mailbox -AuditEnabled $true

Get-Mailbox |fl name,AuditEnabled

Get-Mailbox -ResultSize Unlimited -Filter {RecipientTypeDetails -eq "UserMailbox"} | Set-Mailbox -AuditEnabled $true

Disable the mailbox audit logging:

Set-Mailbox -AuditEnabled $false

Enable OpenVPN Tunnel on OpenWrt

Enable OpenVPN Tunnel on OpenWrt

This post is about how to enable OpenVPN on OpenWrt Barrier Breaker.
First we need to install openvpn-openssl
opkg update
opkg install openvpn-openssl
Next we will be using the provided ovpn file instead of OpenWRT config.
It is actually the same thing because OpenWrt converts the config file to a file readable by openvpn but using a vendor provided config is more convenient and less error prone.

In this example we have 3 files
  1. The ovpn file provided by your VPN Provider (Netherlands.ovpn)
  2. Password File (Password.txt)
  3. Certificate File (TrustedRoot.pem)
Lets take a look at the ovpn file
client
dev tun
proto udp
remote XX.XXX.XX XXXX
cipher AES-128-CBC
resolv-retry infinite
nobind
persist-key
persist-tun
mute-replay-warnings
ca TrustedRoot.pem
verb 3
auth-user-pass Password.txt
reneg-sec 0

Note that ca refers to the certificate file indicated by TrustedRoot.pem
And auth-user-pass refer to the password file.
If your VPN provider uses TLS you need to provide cert and key.
cert my-server.crt
key
my-server.key
For this example it is just username and password
The password file looks like this:
username
password
Thats it.

So we upload all 3 files to /etc/openvpn

To start OpenVPN type the below and enter
openvpn --cd /etc/openvpn --daemon --config /etc/openvpn/Netherlands.conf
You should see this in syslog
Sun Sep  7 17:41:35 2014 daemon.notice openvpn[2284]: Initialization Sequence Completed
Next in LuCI

Add a new Interface in this example I call it "hide"
