Fix Kingston Flash Drive

To fix Kingston flash drive, used software HP Drive Key Boot Utility (supports Win XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1). Kingston does not release software support to fix flash drives. HP Drive Key Boot Utility, is software that is used to fix product HP (Hewlett Packard), but can also be used to fix Kingston flash drive. There are two type problem on flash disk

1. Partition Table Problems

Characteristics; file system RAW/unknown, used space 0 bytes, free space 0 bytes, flash drives can not be formatted (quick/full format, and format from Administrative tools), when format show error "The format did not complete successfully", flash drive capacity is true. (picture)

Partition Table Problems

For partition table problems; data can be recovered and flash disk can be fixed (for all brand of flash drive)
If this problem happen on Kingston flash, flash drive can be fixed with HP Drive Key Boot Utility and data can be saved with recovery software

2. Firmware Problem

Characteristics; file system RAW/unknown, used space 0 bytes, free space 0 bytes, flash drives can not be formatted (quick/full format, and format from Administrative tools), when format show error "The format did not complete successfully" or "The disk is write protected", flash drive capacity is not true. Firmware Problems

For firmware problems; data can not be recovered and flash disk can not be fixed (for Kingston flash). For another brand of flash (Transcend, Pqi, Adata), data can not be saved and flash drive can be fixed.
If this problem happen on Kingston flash, flash drive can not be fixed with HP Drive Key Boot Utility

Note
HP Drive Key Boot Utility can be used for 2 GB, 4 GB capacity. To capacity; 8 GB, 16 GB, 32 GB and more, HP Drive Key Boot Utility, can be used, but capacity of flash drives will be changed to 2 GB. To restore capacity of flash drives, there are some things to do.

Fix a Kingston Flash Drive

1. Recovery data

Data can be saved for the type of partition table damage. To save data, can be used EASEUS Data Recovery software, GET Data Back, etc.

Download and install EASEUS Data Recovery Software (free version) - open program - select Complete Recovery - select flash drive - Next - wait until process is complete - select data to be saved - saved to your hard drive.

2. After data saved, download and install HP Drive Key BootUtility (supports Win XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1)

How to install HP Drive Key Boot Utility
Windows XP = double click the file cp006049.exe, select Install
Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 = double click the file cp006049.exe, select Extract

3. Insert a flash drive

4. Open HP Drive Key Boot Utility (for Win XP), or double-click file hpdkbu.exe (Win Vista, 7). Then press Next - select drive flash - Next - select Create New or Replace Existing Configuration - Next - Hard drive - Next - Create new file system - Next - HP Firmware flash package - Next - Finish.

open flash disk and you will see files like this

5. After process is complete, unplug flash drive from the computer.

6. Connect flash drive with a computer, then quick format flash drives.

7. Restore all data into flash drive. Finish.

How to restore capacity Kingston flash drives
(for Kingston capacity 8 GB, 16 GB, 32 GB, and more)

This solution I write from experience when fix Kingston 32 GB.

After using HP Drive Key Boot is completed, capacity of flash drives changed to 2 GB. To restore the original capacities, which is do is

1. Download and install software HDD Low Level Format Tool 4.4 (free, support Win XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1)
2. Open the program - select flash drive - Continue - click LOW LEVEL FORMAT - click FORMAT THIS DEVICE - Yes - wait process - Finish.
3. Remove flash drives from a computer
4. Connect flash drive to a computer, then quick format
5. Restore all data into flash drive. FINISH.
